Apple iPhone 18 Pro: Specs, Price, and Release Date
Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro in September 2026 with a 2nm A20 Pro chip, a rumored variable aperture main camera, and a slimmer Dynamic Island.
Apple releases a new iPhone generation every September, but 2026 looks like one of the more significant leaps in recent years. Based on leaks from multiple credible industry sources, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a variable aperture main camera, Apple's own 2nm A20 Pro chip, and a slimmer Dynamic Island. It is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2026.
Display
The iPhone 18 Pro keeps the 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display size. It is rumored to feature LTPO+ technology, enabling adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz for better battery life during static content. The Dynamic Island is expected to shrink, with some Face ID sensors moving under the screen.
Processor and connectivity
The A20 Pro chip will use TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process — the smallest node ever in an Apple device. It is rumored to deliver up to 15% faster performance and 30% better power efficiency compared to the A19 Pro. For the first time, iPhone will use Apple's own C2 modem instead of Qualcomm, bringing mmWave 5G support and reportedly expanded satellite connectivity beyond emergency SOS.
Camera
The most talked-about rumor is a variable aperture on the 48MP main camera. This feature has only appeared in a handful of professional compact cameras; adding it to a smartphone would be a first. Variable aperture lets users control how much light enters the lens — a wider opening for low-light shots, a narrower one to avoid overexposure in bright conditions. The front camera is rumored to jump from 18MP to 24MP.
Battery
Leaked specifications point to approximately 4,288 mAh — a slight increase over the iPhone 17 Pro's 4,252 mAh. The more meaningful efficiency gain should come from the 2nm chip itself, which consumes less power per operation than the current 3nm A19 Pro.
Storage variants and colors
The iPhone 18 Pro will be available in three storage tiers: 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. Rumored colors include a new deep cherry red called «Dark Cherry», light blue, dark gray, and silver.
Who it's for
The iPhone 18 Pro is aimed at users who prioritize camera quality — particularly those shooting in low light or wanting granular control over depth of field. At a similar price point, it will compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy S26 while offering Apple's ecosystem advantages.
Price and release date
Apple is expected to hold an announcement event around September 8–12, 2026, with sales beginning approximately September 19. Analysts including Ming-Chi Kuo predict no price increase, keeping the 256 GB model at around $1,099. All Apple smartphones currently available can be browsed on our site.
