The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is Samsung's first wide-screen foldable. Here is what sets it apart and who it is for.

Samsung has changed direction. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is the company's first foldable with a wide-screen design: unfolded, it is shorter and wider than earlier Fold models, and the inner display moves closer to a 4:3 aspect ratio. This is a phone built for films, games and content — not primarily for work.

Displays

The inner screen is a 7.6-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3000 nits of brightness. The wider 4:3 shape means videos and games look more natural, without black bars. The 5.5-inch cover screen also runs at 120Hz, so the phone is comfortable to use folded.

Why the wide screen matters

Unlike the narrower, taller Fold 8 Ultra and its 1:1 display — better suited to two apps side by side — the Wide screen can comfortably fit three apps at once. Even so, Samsung clearly frames this as an entertainment device rather than a productivity one.

Performance and cameras

Inside sits the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip with 12 or 16GB of RAM. The camera is a dual 50MP system (main and ultrawide); there is no dedicated telephoto lens like the Ultra version has. Video records up to 8K. Selfies are handled by two 10MP sensors — one on the inner screen, one on the cover.

Battery and durability

The 4800mAh battery charges at 45W wired (63% in half an hour) or 20W wirelessly. The body pairs an aluminium frame with a Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 3 front and an IP48 dust and water resistance rating. S Pen support is gone.

Versions and price

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide comes in three storage tiers — 256GB, 512GB and 1TB — and four colours: Graphite, Cream, Lavender and Pistachio. The base 256GB version costs around €1,999. The phone went on sale in early August 2026.
