Sony Xperia 10 VIII: The Compact Phone That Keeps the Headphone Jack
A compact Sony phone that stubbornly keeps the headphone jack, microSD and long battery life. Here is what we know.
Sony has stuck to its own path for years: while other makers drop the headphone jack and the microSD slot, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII intends to keep both. Leaks from IMEI and FCC databases show the compact mid-range phone arriving in autumn 2026.
Display and design
The Xperia 10 VIII keeps a 6.1-inch OLED screen at Full HD+ (1080 × 2340) with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Its 19.5:9 aspect ratio makes the body narrower than most rivals, so the phone stays comfortable in one hand. The screen is reportedly protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. A side-mounted fingerprint reader and IP68 dust and water resistance carry over.
Specifications
Rumours point to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor — some sources say Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 — paired with 8 or 10 GB of RAM. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card, a rarity on modern phones. The phone ships with Android 16 out of the box.
Battery and charging
Battery capacity stays at 5000 mAh — enough for a compact phone to last two days. FCC filings confirmed 30 W wired charging through Sony XGZ-UC1 adapter, faster than earlier Xperia 10 generations.
Camera
On the back sits a triple-camera system with Sony image processing. The exact sensors are not confirmed yet, but the predecessor had a 50 MP main sensor with optical stabilisation, so expect a similar level here.
Who is it for?
The Xperia 10 VIII is a phone for people who value a compact body, long battery life and old-school conveniences: the 3.5 mm headphone jack and expandable storage. If you want a bigger screen and a stronger processor, the Samsung Galaxy A56 or Google Pixel 9A offer more performance in the same price bracket. But neither has a headphone jack.
Price and availability
The official price has not been announced yet, but rumours suggest around €500–600, similar to the predecessor. The phone should reach almost every market, including Europe. You can compare all Sony phones in our catalogue.
